My friend gave me a membership to our local independent theater with the caveat that i see movies WITH her so we are seeing American Fiction next week at my request! One morning on the news, all three anchors were Black and talking about how much they loved this movie and how many of the scenes felt directly lifted from their lives.
That's one of the best ways to see movies. My mother has a movie friend.

Interesting that there needed to be articles about going solo to the cinema! It's the only way i used to view. Once a week, I'd take in a movie at the local theater and was often the only single and sometimes the only person. My friend who gifted the membership is one of the very few people i can go to the movies with - she doesn't talk, she doesn't mind getting there early, we like to sit in the same locale of the seats, and we have similar taste. I'm a particular moviegoer.
